Acceptable Use Policy
College of Education Digital Archive and Repository (CEDAR)
University of Santo Tomas
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) governs access to and use of the CEDAR Repository, the institutional digital archive of the College of Education at the University of Santo Tomas. By accessing the repository, users agree to abide by the terms set forth in this policy.
2. Authorized Users
The CEDAR Repository is accessible to:
- Students, faculty, and staff of the University of Santo Tomas
- Researchers and members of the public conducting academic inquiry
- Institutional partners and affiliated organizations
Admin access is restricted to authorized repository personnel only.
3. Permitted Uses
Users may access the repository for the following purposes:
- Academic research, learning, and instruction
- Citation and reference in scholarly work, with proper attribution
- Downloading individual items for personal, non-commercial academic use
- Browsing and searching repository collections
4. Prohibited Uses
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Reproducing, distributing, or publishing repository content for commercial purposes without written permission
- Systematic or automated bulk downloading of repository content
- Using repository content in ways that violate the intellectual property rights of authors
- Submitting false, fraudulent, or plagiarized content
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to restricted administrative systems
- Interfering with the availability or performance of the repository
5. Intellectual Property
All content in the CEDAR Repository is the intellectual property of their respective authors. Items are made available under the terms negotiated with submitters, which may include open-access licenses, restricted access, or embargo periods. Users must respect the applicable license terms for each item.
The CEDAR Repository and its metadata records are the property of the University of Santo Tomas College of Education. Metadata may be reused for non-commercial academic purposes with attribution.
6. Submission Standards
Authors and submitters are responsible for ensuring that submitted content does not infringe on any third-party rights and complies with the College’s ETD Submission Guidelines and Institutional Repository Policy. Content found to be in violation may be removed without prior notice.
7. Privacy
Use of the repository may be logged for security and analytics purposes. No personally identifiable information is collected through public browsing. For details, see the Privacy Policy.
8. Violations and Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in suspension of access, removal of submitted content, and referral to University disciplinary procedures. The College of Education Library reserves the right to modify access privileges at its discretion.
